Mwenimisitu is a sub-village of Katatula. In 1996, Katatula completed the construction of 5 shallow wells before any other village began. They were well organized and highly motivated. This particular well was already a reliable unprotected source of drinking water, but the community asked for our help in protecting it. The well is nearly finished in this picture, as you can see the brick structure growing from the well. The Village Headman is the man squatting just to the left of the well.
